Our Story

Our Tribe

Although Our Tribe Café officially opened its doors in December 2025, our story began way back in 2006 when Jamie-Leigh and Chris met in a coffee shop. Jamie-Leigh was the Gloria Jean's manager, and Chris was a very smitten customer (we'll let you decide whether it was the coffee or the manager that kept him coming back!).

Fast forward almost 20 years, four beautiful children, countless coffees, and one very big dream later, and Our Tribe Café became a family affair. Alongside Hunter, Payton, Mackenzie and Peppa (we've resorted to paying our teenagers to hang out with us. LOL), we're proud to call Our Tribe Café our home. Even more special is watching it become a home away from home for so many others.

From the very beginning, our vision was simple: to create a place where people could gather, slow down, feel welcomed, and leave happier than when they arrived.

The name Our Tribe holds a special place in our hearts. Our late Granny would often tell her friends, "We're going to visit Chris and his tribe!". It was her loving way of describing our growing family, and it became the inspiration behind our cafe's name. Today, Our Tribe Café extends far beyond the six of us, it's made up of every loyal customer, familiar face, and new friends who walks through our doors.

To us, Our Tribe Café has never just been about coffee and food, it's about people.

It's about remembering your coffee order (sometimes before you've even ordered it), celebrating life's little wins, asking how your day has been and genuinely wanting to hear the answer, and creating a space where everyone feels like they belong.

Our mission is simple: to serve our amazing community with five-star service, exceptional food (we're such foodies!), and genuine hospitality. We believe everyone deserves great food, which is why we've created a menu that caters to a variety of dietary requirements, with every meal able to be made gluten-free because no one should ever have to miss out on brunch.

We're especially proud of our customer-favourite Potato Rosti (which has developed quite the loyal fan club) and our smooth, flavourful coffee that's responsible for many "I'll just pop in for one" visits turning into two hour catch ups.

When you walk through our doors, we don't want you to feel like a customer—we want you to feel like family. Our hope is that you're greeted by name, feel seen and valued, stay longer than you planned, laugh a little louder, and leave with a full heart and an even fuller stomach.

Community has always been at the centre of Our Tribe Café. From hosting our local book club and running club to simply sharing conversations across the counter, we're passionate about bringing people together. As we grow, we're excited to continue finding new ways to love and serve the community that has so generously embraced us.

The most rewarding part of this journey hasn't been opening a café—it's been watching familiar faces walk through our doors each day. Seeing our regulars become friends and knowing we've been able to play a small part in making someone's day a little brighter is what makes all of this worthwhile.

At Our Tribe Café, we believe the little things matter—a warm welcome, really good coffee, food made with love, kindness that feels genuine, and creating moments that make people feel special.

So whether it's your first visit or your fiftieth, there's always a seat waiting for you here.

Welcome to Our Tribe.

We're so glad you're here!
